What Number Will Cooper Flagg Wear With the Mavericks? Viral Photo May Have Just Leaked His Jersey Number

Cooper Flagg's No. 32 Dallas Mavericks jerseys have been reportedly sold at the American Airlines Center after he was drafted as the No.1 pick.

The Dallas Mavericks have wasted no time hyping Cooper Flagg. The 2025 NBA Draft’s No. 1 pick already has his Mavericks jerseys reportedly doing the rounds.

Flagg was drafted by the Mavericks, who now have Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, two stars who were also drafted as the No. 1 picks when they made their foray into the NBA.

Cooper Flagg Finally Gets to Sport the Number He Wanted To Wear at Duke

Soon after being drafted, a picture of the Mavericks’ swingman jersey featuring Flagg’s name and jersey No. 32 did the rounds on social media. Mavs reporter Noah Weber shared the image, saying, “First look at some of the Dallas Mavericks Cooper Flagg jerseys.”

The No. 32 that Flagg wears in his rookie season in the league was a number that he had picked well before being drafted. While fans are used to seeing him don No. 2 at Duke (a number worn by his teammate Irving in Dallas), the forward will sport his high school jersey number because it was his mother Kelly’s digits on her jersey when she played basketball.

It’s worth noting that Flagg also wanted to wear 32 at Duke, but the number was retired by the Blue Devils in honor of legend Christian Laettner. And in what comes as a unique bit, Laettner incidentally wore 32 during his one season with Dallas.

The Mavericks are reportedly already selling Flagg’s jerseys at their NBA Draft watch party at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday. Per Sports Illustrated, there are reportedly 3,000 available at the venue.

Cooper Flagg Expected To Start Despite Dallas’ Loaded Frontcourt

On the season front, Flagg’s drafting comes after the team’s tumultuous few months after their shocking and league-altering trade of Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers. The move didn’t sit well with the Mavericks faithful as they expressed their displeasure quite publicly.

It didn’t help that they lost Kyrie Irving to a season-ending ACL injury and Davis missed considerable time due to an adductor strain. The absence of key names saw them struggle in the first few games after the Dončić trade.

Flagg now joins a team that has high championship aspirations after their forgettable 39-43 campaign that ended with them crashing out of the final play-in game. The former Duke superstar is expected to make the starting five with a forward-heavy lineup featuring Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, P.J. Washington, Caleb Martin, and Naji Marshall.
