Georgia Bulldogs center Asa Newell is a prospective first-round pick in the 2025 NBA draft, likely to be selected in the mid to late first round. With a seven-foot wingspan, the 19-year-old is an offensive rebounder, rim-runner, and lob threat. His defensive versatility and rim protection make him a modern-day NBA big.
In addition to his prospective top draft selection, Newell is garnering attention for another reason: his girlfriend, Aaliyah Crump, a 6-foot-1 point guard. It seems Newell has met his match in his personal life, as Crump is a top prospect in her own right.

A new WNBA-NBA super couple could emerge in a few years. Prospective top draft pick Asa Newell’s girlfriend, Aaliyah Crump, is a consensus five-star recruit, ranked fourth nationally in the Class of 2025 by ESPN.
Crump recently completed her senior year at Montverde Academy in Florida. She had begun her high school basketball career at Minnetonka High School in Minnesota before transferring to Montverde in her senior year.
Crump is immensely supportive of her boyfriend’s career. In February, she expressed admiration when Newell was on the watchlist for elite college basketball honors by sharing an Instagram story captioned “so proud.” A few days later, she proudly shared a story highlighting Newell’s fourth SEC Freshman of the Week win, captioning it, “yes.”
Crump committed to playing for the Texas Longhorns in November 2024 but supported her boyfriend by repping the Georgia Bulldogs through an Instagram post in February. The multi-snap post also featured some romantic snaps of the couple. It has been the only social media post from their respective handles that shows their romance.
In her junior year with the Minnetonka Skippers, Crump led them to a Class 4A state championship, averaging 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. In her senior year, she averaged 11.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game.
Crump won gold for Team USA at the 2023 FIBA U16 Americas Championship. She is also a McDonald’s All-American and a Jordan Brand Classic participant. Notably, she was the first high school athlete to sign an NIL deal with Klutch Athletics by New Balance in 2023.
