Fritz vs Zverev Preview

Fritz couldn’t hit his stride in the recently concluded clay-court season. He faced a fourth-round exit in Madrid, entered Rome as a fourth seed but exited in the second round, had a quarterfinal finish in Geneva, but ended with a shocking first-round exit at the 2025 French Open.

The American, however, turned the tide on the grass. After receiving a first-round bye in Stuttgart, Fritz defeated Quentin Halys and Marton Fucsovics before overcoming Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the final.

Zverev, on the other hand, has also had a relatively underwhelming season by his standards. His only title so far came at the BMW Open, with his other notable achievement being a runner-up finish at the Australian Open in January.

On clay, the German fell short of replicating last year’s form. His best results were quarterfinal finishes at the Italian Open and French Open, along with a win in Munich. Beyond that, he suffered early exits in Monte Carlo, Hamburg, and Madrid.

But Zverev looked strong on grass, winning all his matches in straight sets. He defeated
Corentin Moutet, Brandon Nakashima, and eventually Ben Shelton to reach the BOSS Open final.

Head-to-Head Matchup History and Prediction

Both have played 12 matches so far on tour, with Fritz holding a comfortable 7-5 head-to-head advantage against Zverev.

The match is expected to be tight, but Fritz could ultimately prevail. While both players have gained momentum on grass, Fritz holds a psychological advantage, having won their last four encounters. The American will be looking to carry that streak of dominance into the BOSS Open final.

Additionally, Fritz enjoyed a relatively stronger grass-court swing last year, reaching the quarterfinals at the Queen’s Club Championships and Wimbledon, and winning the Eastbourne Open. Zverev, meanwhile, reached the semifinals at the Terra Wortmann Open but was defeated by Fritz in the fourth round at Wimbledon.

Pick: Fritz to win
