Kevin Durant has finally broken his silence on why the Brooklyn Nets’ superteam fell apart. Interestingly, it was a post from an X user that prompted the two-time NBA champion to speak out.
But it wasn’t a long speech from him. Instead, Durant responded with just two simple words. That was enough to grab attention. For the first time, Durant addressed one of the biggest team breakdowns in recent NBA history. And his words hit hard.
Kevin Durant Finally Confirms How the Nets’ Big 3 Fell Apart
A fan on X recently went viral for explaining why Brooklyn’s superteam fell apart. The fan said Kevin Durant signed his contract first, expecting Kyrie Irving and James Harden to re-sign too. But things changed fast when Irving refused the COVID-19 vaccine. Because of that, the Nets took back their long-term offer to him.
The fan called this move “the biggest mistake the Nets made.”
With Irving’s future unclear, Harden started doubting if he should stay. Durant was hurt at the time, watching the team’s strong foundation break down. The fan added that Harden felt Irving wasn’t serious about winning because of the vaccine issue. He wrote, “KD got hurt, and Harden didn’t think Irving was taking winning seriously by refusing to get vaccinated to play.”
Durant didn’t write much in response. His two-word reply, “Beautifully said,” offered clarity about why the Nets’ Big 3 collapsed. But now, just two years later, Durant is once again at the center of another breakdown. This time, it’s happening in Phoenix.

According to multiple reports, the Suns are expected to trade Durant before the NBA Draft on June 25. Phoenix insider John Gambadoro said bluntly, “I expect Kevin Durant will be traded from the Phoenix Suns next week.”
ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed that five teams are in the mix: the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks
So yes, Durant is very much on the trade block again. However, until June 25 comes, we have to wait and see which team he ultimately joins.
Durant, at 37, is still playing at a high level. This season, he averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He also shot an impressive 52.7% from the field and 43% from beyond the arc. Even with those strong numbers, the Suns couldn’t make it in the playoffs just like last season.
Now, this story feels a lot like what happened in Brooklyn. In both places, Durant joined teams that hoped to win it all. But injuries, team problems, and front office decisions caused the teams to fall apart. Now, just like before, Durant is working with his business partner, Rich Kleiman, to think about possible trades.
