When Caitlin Clark was selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft, the league witnessed the beginning of a new era. Dubbed the “Caitlin Clark Effect,” her arrival instantly sparked massive surges in ticket sales and viewership.
Clark’s rookie season was nothing short of historic. She shattered records for most points, turnovers, and assists by a rookie, while averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game. But her impact stretched far beyond the hardwood into another booming area: jersey sales.

The “Caitlin Clark Effect” in the Case of Jersey Sales
In April, it was officially reported that Clark’s No. 22 Indiana Fever jersey was the second-best-selling basketball jersey in the United States in 2024, according to leading sports retailer Fanatics.
The rapid rise in her jersey sales wasn’t entirely surprising. When the Indiana Fever first made her All-Star jerseys available in July 2024, the entire stock sold out in just 15 minutes.
The jerseys were fffered in two versions, black and pink, and were priced at $130. Clark’s star power on and off the court was evident as fans rushed to grab a piece of history.
Clark’s influence didn’t stop at individual sales. Fanatics also reported that WNBA player-specific merchandise sales jumped by 1,000% year over year in 2024, while league-specific merchandise rose by 200%. The spike was a clear sign of Clark’s impact.
In the 2025 season, Clark is currently sidelined with a left quadriceps strain. Before her injury, she continued her stellar play, averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, and six rebounds per game.
While Clark’s jersey ruled the WNBA landscape, there was one basketball superstar she couldn’t surpass.
Stephen Curry Dominated Jersey Sales in 2024
NBA icon Stephen Curry, one of the league’s most beloved and marketable players, secured the top spot as the best-selling basketball jersey of 2024 according to Fanatics.

NBA.com reported that Celtics star Jayson Tatum ranked No. 2 in jersey sales for the 2023–24 season, followed by Lakers legend LeBron James at No. 3.
During the 2024–25 NBA regular season, Curry averaged 24.5 points, six assists, and 4.4 rebounds. He led the Golden State Warriors to the playoffs after a Play-In Tournament win over the Memphis Grizzlies. The Warriors then beat the Houston Rockets in the first round but were eliminated by the surging Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round, 4–1 while Curry was sidelined for the majority of the series with an injury.
