According to a recent report by The Athletic, Butler is expected to join a group preparing a bid for Eagle Football’s 43% stake in Premier League club Crystal Palace. The offer is reportedly valued at more than $200 million.

The group is led by Bejan Esmaili, a former Morgan Stanley sports executive, and Wajid Mir, a former Roc Nation attorney. Talks reportedly began months ago. Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd was part of an earlier version of the group but later opted to join Everton Football Club’s ownership circle. Butler was brought in after Kidd stepped away.
