NBA Analyst Brutally Eviscerates Top-15 Player Ranking That Places Stephen Curry Over LeBron James

Nick Wright slammed Bill Simmons’ MVP rankings for putting Steph Curry ahead of LeBron James. Wright argues LeBron deserved a spot over Curry.

Even as both the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors are out of contention during the 2024-25 playoffs, their leaders, LeBron James and Stephen Curry, are still causing quite a stir.

Bill Simmons at the Ringer has come up with a new top 15 list of NBA MVPs, which is irking NBA analyst Nick Wright. Wright is rather baffled by the fact that this particular ranking is placing Curry ahead of Bron.

Nick Wright is Furious Over Stephen Curry and LeBron James’ MVP Rankings

Of course, the current era of basketball owes it all to the talents Steph and Bron brought with them. They’re quite literally among the two greatest players to step foot on the court, setting historical milestones year after year. There are always going to be two schools of thought in determining who is better among the two, where we can see Nick Wright clash with Simmons’ list.

On his podcast, Wright let his objection against placing James under Curry be heard, rather loudly.

“Here’s the thing about the Lebron rankings that is so irritating. People keep prematurely downgrading him because of his age,” Wright said. “He just finished sixth in the MVP vote, six firmly, Second Team All-NBA. So why all of a sudden is he not one of the 15 best players in the league?”

He continued, “You could fairly argue for LeBron to be as high as fifth and as low as 10, but that’s it. My pal Bill Simmons did a top 15 player pyramid and didn’t have LeBron on that. Now that’s an outrage. He still has Steph Curry as like the seventh best guy.”

“There’s no way to look at this NBA season and say Steph was better than LeBron, not by stats, not by team record, not by individual accolades, not by any of it,” he said.

While Bron focuses on a particular thing, Curry’s dominance shows through in different ways. Both are geniuses in their individual ways, and if they were put on one team, they would create a symphony that would be hard to break on the court.

Bron vs Curry – A Recap of the 2024-25 Season

During the 2024-25 season, both Bron and Curry demonstrated remarkable performances. They were defying age-related expectations and showing more endurance than ever before.

40-year-old Bron, who played 70 games for the Lakers this season, was averaging 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game. His efforts led him to earn a spot on the All-NBA Second Team and ended up sixth in the MVP voting.

Under his guidance, the Lakers were the third seed in the West, with a 50-32 record. Unfortunately, they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, marking an early end to his season. But the major highlight of the season for him was to finally be able to share the court with his son, Bronny, becoming the first father-son duo to play together in the league’s history.

Steph, on the other hand, is 37 years old, leading the Warriors with an average of 24.5 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds over 70 games. In a spectacular trade that brought Jimmy Butler to the team, it helped revitalize Curry’s spirits and the team, leading them to an 18-2 record when both of them played together.

Curry’s performance, including crossing 4,000 career three-pointers and a 52-point game, propelled the Warriors into the playoffs. They were able to advance a round ahead of the Lakers.

While debates continue over who had a superior season, their legacy is undeniable, showcasing their talent and influence in the league.
