The Myth Around Jaylin Williams and Jalen Williams’ Relation Decoded

Fans have long asked about their relationship after observing their second names. But no, there is no relationship in any way whatsoever.

The Thunder drafted them together, picking Jalen in the first round as the 12th overall pick, while Jaylin was drafted in the second round as the 34th overall pick. Numerous individuals accepted the two, shared a close bond, and grew together. Yet, no, they lived separate lives.

Born on June 29, 2002, Jaylin grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas, around 180 miles from Oklahoma City. Although he and Jalen have no relation, Isaiah Joe and his Thunder teammate became colleagues and played together at Arkansas. His parents, Michael and Linda Williams raised him well, and the forward has three brothers and a sister.

Likewise, Jaylin is of Vietnamese heritage, which he gained from his mother’s side. Born in Ho Chi Minh City, Linda moved to the United States with her mother, Nga, after the Vietnam War. Therefore, he’s the first player of Vietnamese descent to play in the NBA.

Coming to Jalen, he was born in Denver, Colorado, on April 14, 2001, as the Williams’ moved to Gilbert, Arizona, when Jalen was 7. Williams’ parents supported him through thick and thin, encouraging him to pick up basketball at a young age, ensuring he got the appropriate discipline, and developing his basketball skill set in his teenage years.

His parents, Ronald and Nicole Williams are United States Air Force veterans who served their country well. Ironically, they met on the basketball courts of the Air Force Academy. Jalen has an older sister, Jasmine, and a young brother, Cody, and is very much a family-first man.

After all, no, Jalen and Jaylin are not related to each other. But they are real brothers on the court, as is the entire OKC roster. Hopefully, they can win a championship and put on a grand celebration.
