Who Are Myles Turner’s Parents? All About Pacers Star’s Family and Personal Life

Having played out his entire career with the Indiana Pacers, Myles Turner is an icon of the game, and he has a beautiful family that supports him.

If there’s one player who symbolizes the Indiana Pacers, it’s Myles Turner. The 6-foot-11 center joined the Pacers in 2015 as the 11th overall pick in the NBA Draft. Over the years, he has grown into a key part of Indiana’s efforts to return to the top of the league, even if he hasn’t yet reached the NBA Finals. That could all change this year.

The Pacers have a shot at surpassing the New York Knicks and making their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000. Back then, they defeated the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals, and history could be repeating itself. Turner’s outstanding defense has been a big reason why Indiana is back in the spotlight.

As Turner becomes a role model for many basketball players, let’s take a closer look at the people who helped shape him into a great player and a true professional.

Meet Myles Turner’s Parents

Turner was born to David and Mary Turner in Bedford, Texas, on March 24, 1996. His parents supported him throughout his journey and never hesitated to let him chase his basketball dreams.

David Turner has worked at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport for over 30 years. He started as a bus driver and worked his way up to become a client servicing agent. Despite working night shifts, David always found time to be in the stands, cheering on his son.

Mary Turner, a homemaker, played a huge role in Myles’ life. She focused on supporting him in everything he did, even cutting down on his TV time so he could work on his basketball skills. The Pacers center has credited his mom for helping him build the work ethic that defines his game.

Myles and his mother have also teamed up to launch the WARM (We Are Really Matter) program. It’s their way of giving back and helping those in need.

Stressing the Importance of Family

To make sure Myles had the tools he needed to succeed, David Turner bought a BowFlex machine for strength training. Myles would train after school, building the kind of physical presence that helps him block shots and battle in the paint.

Turner also has a sister, Mya Turner. While there isn’t a lot of information about Mya, she’s clearly an important part of his life. The two travel together often, and Myles regularly shares photos of them enjoying time on sandy beaches.

Family has always been a big part of Turner’s life. He’s talked often about the lessons his parents taught him, not just on the court but in how to carry himself every day.

In an interview with HoopsHype, Turner shared, “My parents raised me to always shake hands, say ‘yes, sir’ and ‘no, sir,’ hold the door open for people, make eye contact when you’re having a conversation—just the little stuff like that. That never got away from me.”

As Turner continues to play a big role for the Pacers, he hopes to repay his parents’ dedication and sacrifice by helping his team reach new heights. Indiana fans believe this could be the year they finally return to the NBA Finals, and Turner’s leadership and defense will be crucial.
