If you need a break from stressing about your team in the NBA playoffs, Shaquille O’Neal’s “The Big Podcast with Shaq” is the perfect distraction. In the latest episode, Shaq’s guest is comedian Karlous Miller—and he delivers big laughs.
One of the highlights? Miller’s hilarious impersonation of ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith that had Shaq laughing out loud.
Karlous Miller Brutally Roasts Stephen A. Smith
Just before the impression, Miller makes a quick but solid point about the weird obsession with how much sports media personalities get paid. That leads him straight to Smith.
At around the 21-minute mark, Miller lets loose:
“I don’t know what his real job is,” he says. “Just yellin’ about stuff that nobody cares about. There’s no real argument.”
The moment that really cracks up Shaq is a made-up rant about Suns forward Kevin Durant:
“Kevin Durant DOESN’T EAT BREAKFAST!”
“I’m tellin’ you! The Suns have got it all wrong here!”
“What are you mad about?! Who cares?”
Shaq laughed so hard he begged Miller to keep going.
Jokes aside, Miller taps into something a lot of fans feel—that sports media has shifted from covering real stories to chasing viral moments and outrage. Stephen A. isn’t the only one, but he’s definitely the face of it.
Recently, Smith’s been in the news himself. LeBron James confronted him over comments about Bronny, and Smith went so far as to say he would’ve “swung on LeBron” if it came to that.
He also had to walk back a wild take about Suns owner Mat Ishbia, calling him “arguably the worst owner in NBA history”—a stretch that even lumped Ishbia in with Donald Sterling.
Ishbia didn’t bite. His response?
“I don’t take much of what he says seriously. I don’t think many people do.”
So while Miller’s bit was meant for laughs, his point hit home. Stephen A. is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable voices in basketball. Hopefully, we’ll see more of that—and a little less yelling about breakfast.
