Arizona’s Caleb Love Isn’t Backing Down From Flagg and Co.
While Flagg has garnered much of the attention during the buildup of this match, Arizona’s point guard is ready to show to the world their talents. He’s vying for revenge after Flagg led Duke to win 69-55 over Arizona in November.
“We gotta go back, we gotta watch film, we gotta get ready for them, and we gonna enjoy this win, but we’ll be ready for them when it’s time,” Love said. “We’ll be ready for them when it’s time. I want to play Duke again, but it is crazy how many times I’ve seen them.”
While Love has played and defeated Duke on previous occasions, he hasn’t been able to pull that off against Flagg. On Thursday, Love will be waiting to claim his win and advance into the NCAA Tournament’s Elite Eight.
Flagg Highlights His Reasons for Picking Duke and Jon Scheyer
After graduating from Montevideo Academy, Flagg had multiple offers from reputed colleges to join their basketball program. However, in a recent interview, Flagg highlighted that his choice was made firm by head coach Jon Scheyer’s attitude.
“It comes from him [Scheyer] not always telling me what I wanted to hear,” he said. “He watched a lot of our games. We would talk after some of them, and it’s just about him telling what he saw, honestly, instead of just telling me what I want to hear.”

“My parents and my AAU coach, they definitely wouldn’t let me get to be full of myself so they were always keeping it real. That’s what I look for in the coaches. I was raised, grew up on tough love and honesty.”
Flagg is the favorite to win the National Player of the Year, regardless of Duke’s result on Thursday. However, a victory over Arizona will all but confirm his contention for the accolade.
