Miami Heat big man Kevin Love has had a very successful career that spans over a decade.
At 36 years old, he has built up a reputation as one of the best power forwards in his era thanks to his elite rebounding ability and low-post presence. As a result, he won one championship in 2016 with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
How Much Money Did Kevin Love Earn Throughout His Career?
Love was selected as the No. 5 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies but was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He signed a four-year, $14.81 million rookie contract.
Throughout his time with the Timberwolves, he emerged as one of the best power forwards in the league, eventually earning him a massive four-year, $60.8 million contract extension in January 2012.
He had his best statistical season as a pro in the 2013-14 season under that contract, averaging 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 4.4 assists on 45.7% shooting from the field and 37.6% from behind the arc.
Despite his emergence as a superstar, Love’s time in the Twin Cities ended unceremoniously. He was traded to Cleveland in 2014, joining LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.
With the Cavaliers, he eventually declined a $16.7 million option in 2015, leading him to sign a five-year, $113.2 million contract extension with the franchise. Love succeeded in Cleveland, playing a massive role in their 2015-16 season championship run. He signed another four-year, $120.42 million deal.
However, after nine seasons and four straight NBA Finals appearances, the Cavs bought out Love’s contract. He was picked up by the Miami Heat, signing a one-year $3.11 contract for the rest of the season. He found some success as a role player in Miami, helping them make the NBA Finals where they unfortunately fell to the Denver Nuggets.
During the 2023 offseason, Love signed a two-year, $7.86 million contract; despite being older, he has continued to be a reliable role player in South Beach. He declined a $4.99 million player option, eventually signing on to a two-year, $8 million contract.
