Brian Windhorst: Kevin Durant Could Team Up With Anthony Edwards
While there’s no way to know where Durant will land, that hasn’t stopped the media from trying to predict his next move. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, a well-known NBA insider, recently pointed to the Minnesota Timberwolves as a team to watch in the Durant sweepstakes.
“Another small-market team to watch: the Minnesota Timberwolves. Ant Edwards and KD—very tight connection from the Olympics,” Windhorst said. “The Timberwolves tried to pull off a crazy trade at the deadline for KD. Look for them to revisit that this summer.”

The Timberwolves have already committed more than $244 million to Anthony Edwards. While they could pursue Durant, their interest will likely depend on how far they advance in the postseason—or how short they fall.
If Minnesota comes up short in the playoffs, adding Durant could become a priority when the offseason begins. However, since Durant remains under contract for one more season, he won’t have full control over where he plays next season.
Pairing him with Edwards would be an intriguing storyline, especially if Durant takes on a mentorship role in the latter stages of his career. As Windhorst mentioned, the two have a strong bond dating back to Team USA.
