Is Luka Dončić Playing Tonight? Latest on Whether Lakers Superstar Will Play vs. Hornets

Los Angeles Lakers fans will finally get a glimpse of a healthy Luka Dončić, with JJ Redick set to lift the minutes restriction on his star acquisition.

All eyes will be on the Los Angeles Lakers tonight and with good reason. The whole team had some time to rest up and get healthy for the second stretch of the season after the All-Star break.

It will also be the third time we will see Luka Dončić in a Lakers uniform. The Slovenian, who was traded to Los Angeles three weeks ago in a trade that shook the very foundations of the NBA, has averaged 15 points in the two games he has suited up for with his new franchise.

In both those games, Dončić was on a minutes restriction, logging 23.5 minutes per game as the Lakers looked to ease him into action. This stemmed after Dončić suffered a calf injury around Christmas and has been working his way back into full fitness ever since.

Is Luka Dončić Playing Tonight Against the Charlotte Hornets?

Dončić will be raring to go later tonight when the Lakers take on the Hornets at 10 p.m. ET. This Lakers vs. Hornets game is the same one that had to be rescheduled due to the LA wildfires in January.

Head coach JJ Redick also confirmed Dončić’s minutes restriction will be lifted, and Los Angeles will also have Gabe Vincent and Dorian Finney-Smith back for this game.

Lakers fans will also get a look at Mark Williams tonight, the center whose trade was rescinded due to medical issues. Williams did not play for the Hornets in their last game but is expected to return to the fold tonight.

Los Angeles Lakers Injury Report vs. Hornets

It appears the Lakers are finally starting to get healthy and at the right time. There are just two names on the Lakers’ injury report for tonight: LeBron James (left foot soreness) and Maxi Kleber (right foot surgery recovery).

Kleber, who was traded to LA along with Dončić, has been ruled out and will not suit up for a while as he recovers from surgery.

James, meanwhile, has been listed as questionable. ESPN’s NBA insider Shams Charania suggested the Lakers might look to keep him away from this matchup, given they have a back-to-back against the Portland Trail Blazers tomorrow night.

James did not play in the All-Star Game due to the same issue as the one on the injury report.
