LeBron James’ decision to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers has generated major excitement around the league.
James’ former teammate Chris Bosh recently shared his thoughts on the four-time champion’s arrival in Philadelphia, making a bold statement about the NBA icon’s role on the 76ers’ star-loaded roster.

James now joins a core featuring Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe. The veteran star has helped form the league’s newest high-profile “superteam” by teaming up with Philadelphia’s talented lineup.
The concept is nothing new for the 41-year-old. Bosh was part of James’ first superteam with the Miami Heat, alongside Dwyane Wade. That trio guided Miami to back-to-back NBA championships in 2012 and 2013.
James later became part of another strong unit after returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he joined forces with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love. That group cemented its legacy by winning the historic 2016 NBA championship.
A similar story unfolded during James’ tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he teamed up with Anthony Davis and led the franchise to the 2020 NBA title.
Bosh believes the 76ers have now become the NBA’s latest superteam, and he feels James’ role is to ensure the era of superstar-loaded teams continues.
“The media is about to be crazy, especially with Jaylen and LeBron being there and keeping the superteams alive,” Bosh said. “That’s what I think LeBron James’ purpose is right now: to keep the superteams alive. We’ll see how it goes next year.”

James has dominated the game with the ball in his hands for more than two decades. He brings the experience of 10 NBA Finals appearances and four championships to help lead a locker room filled with elite talent.
However, this time Philadelphia’s roster is deeper and arguably more complete than many of the teams James has played for.
The biggest question remains how all the pieces will fit once the season begins. James could take on a different role with the 76ers.
His agent, Rich Paul, recently said he envisions the four-time champion in a “Draymond Green-like role,” referring to a facilitator who focuses on playmaking rather than scoring.
Still, sharing offensive duties with three elite teammates could ultimately benefit the 41-year-old. At this stage of his career, reducing his workload throughout the regular season may let him stay healthier and fresher for a deep postseason run.
