‘Had to Cry A Lil Bit’ – Bam Adebayo Recalls Emotional Moment When He Asked A’ja Wilson’s Father Permission Before Proposing

Bam Adebayo recounted the special moment where he broke down in tears after asking A'ja Wilson's father for his blessing to marry her.

One of basketball’s biggest power couples is on its way to getting married. Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo and Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson are getting engaged after Adebayo asked Wilson’s dad, Roscoe, for her hand in marriage. Adebayo broke down how that special, emotional moment went down.

Bam Adebayo Recounts Asking For A’ja Wilson’s Hand in Marriage

Adebayo recalled asking Roscoe if he could marry A’ja. Adebayo sat down and detailed the emotions flowing through him in that moment. Adebayo looks poised on the court, but he wasn’t nearly as calm in this moment.

“That was the most terrifying question I had to ask them,” said Adebayo.

Luckily for Adebayo, it all went well. He was overcome with emotion and decided to head into the bathroom and let it out.

“I ain’t gone lie I went to the bathroom and had to cry a little bit. Roscoe is the dad I’ve always wanted,” said Adebayo.

Adebayo was raised by a single mother in North Carolina while his father, living in Nigeria, was distant from him. Because of this, Adebayo’s question to Roscoe was that much more important. He wasn’t only asking to marry the love of his life, but to get the approval of the man whom he looked up to as a father figure.

Adebayo hasn’t yet proposed to A’ja, though, because he hasn’t purchased the most essential item: the ring. But when Adebayo finally gets the ring and decides to pop the question, he’ll have A’ja’s family’s blessing and A’ja’s blessing, as she has openly said she would love to marry Adebayo.

These two are one of the best basketball couples of all time. Adebayo holds the second-most points in a single NBA game, where A’ja was in attendance to see it all happen. He’s also a three-time All-Star, while A’ja is a four-time WNBA MVP, three-time champion, three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and eight-time All-Star.

A’ja will be in the WNBA All-Star game tonight alongside stars like Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers.

Adebayo and A’ja are in it for the long haul after Adebayo asked Roscoe for his blessing. The Wilsons are ready to embrace Adebayo into their family as Adebayo and A’ja aim to take the next step in their relationship.
