From Kevin Durant to Brian Windhorst to Tyrese Haliburton, the NBA world has speculated about where LeBron James will play his 24th season.
The latest to weigh in is NBA Hall of Famer and James’ former teammate, Chris Bosh, who explained why he believes one Eastern Conference contender is the best fit for what could be the 41-year-old’s final NBA season.
Chris Bosh Argues LeBron James Should Return to Miami Heat
“If I were in LeBron James shoes, I would choose Miami,” Bosh said Monday.
Bosh laid out his reasoning, noting that Miami is an ideal place for James to retire, continue playing golf, and settle down with his family, given his familiarity and comfort with the city.
Bosh continued his case from an on-court perspective, stating, “If you have Giannis and LeBron [in the] open court, they’d be a nightmare to stop.” He envisions James and Giannis Antetokounmpo dominating in transition just as James and Dwyane Wade did.
“If you know anything about the Miami Heat, you know they want to be competitive, they don’t believe in wasted years, they are going to put a team around Giannis to be able to compete for a championship,” Bosh added.
“With all those things said, I think that is the best place for him.”

Bosh and James played alongside each other in Miami for four seasons after joining forces in the summer of 2010. During that stretch, they appeared in four consecutive NBA Finals and won two Larry O’Brien Trophies, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2012 and the San Antonio Spurs in 2013.
It’s safe to say Bosh has a better understanding of James’ decision-making process than most given the time they spent together in Miami and the friendship they built. Then again, there’s probably some bias in Bosh’s assessment given his ties to Miami.
When James returned to Cleveland in the 2014 offseason, Bosh remained in Miami and finished his career with the Heat. He earned two more All-Star selections before playing his final NBA game in 2016 and officially retiring in 2019 due to blood clots.
Additionally, despite playing just six seasons with the Heat, Bosh became both a fan favorite and a franchise legend. His jersey was retired by the organization in March 2019, making him one of just six players to receive that honor.
Bosh, James, and Wade formed one of the greatest Big Threes in NBA history more than 15 years ago. Now, James, still playing at an elite level at age 41, has the opportunity to team up with Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo to create yet another legendary Big Three on the Heat.
If Bosh is ultimately right and James returns to South Beach, the Heat would once again become a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference.
