Stephen Curry Offers 4-Word Response When Asked About LeBron James-Warriors Rumors

Stephen Curry briefly responds to LeBron James-Warriors rumors, adding to the ongoing free-agency speculation.

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is competing at the 2026 American Century Championships at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. After a fifth-place finish last year, the two-time NBA MVP looks to replicate his 2023 run, when he captured the title.

Curry is on the greens in a field that includes Ray Allen and Charles Barkley, but he still can’t escape speculation linking him and his team to LeBron James.

While walking toward his next shot, Curry addressed those rumors with a brief response.

Stephen Curry Reacts to LeBron James-Warriors Buzz

A mouthwatering potential Curry-James team-up began to titillate the basketball world late last month. Once Draymond Green opted out of his $27.7 million player option for salary-cap flexibility, rumors ran rampant that James could take his talents to the Bay Area.

The initial hype simmered down when James’ agent, Rich Paul, publicly discussed the four-time MVP’s options on the “Game Over” podcast last week. Paul mentioned the Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat, and the Warriors as potential landing spots.

On Wednesday, NBA insider Brian Windhorst, via an interview with Yahoo Sports Daily, reported that Miami and Cleveland “are in their own category” over other teams interested in signing James.

With the noise growing about James’ potential next destination, Curry responded succinctly when asked about possibly playing with the former Los Angeles Lakers star.

”I don’t mind it,” Curry said.

Curry, who was locked in on his golf when asked the question, already gave a lengthier response about teaming up with James on Wednesday during an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle’s Ron Kroichick.

“We’ve obviously talked. He deserves all the patience and space to figure out what he wants to do as his career winds down,” Curry shared. “We all understand and appreciate that. I would love to play with him, and hopefully that will be a reality soon.”

Curry and the NBA’s all-time leading scorer led Team USA to a gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Golden State is hoping to convince James to spend what could be his last year in the NBA in the Bay Area and chase another championship alongside his longtime rival.

The Warriors have made other moves, but according to ESPN’s Warriors insider Anthony Slater, “they intend to keep roster space open for James until he ultimately declares his choice.”

Slater added that the Warriors “continue to express a low level of optimism that James will ultimately pick them as his next team.”

The Dubs are interested in bringing James to San Francisco, while Curry wants to join forces with him. The ball is now in James’ court as he weighs his options for where he will play next.
