Brown was heavily criticized by fans and analysts for his comments about last season being his “favorite year of my basketball career” despite the Celtics’ first-round playoff exit. He earned All-NBA second team honors and finished sixth in the MVP voting.
According to a report by NBA insider Grant Afseth, Brown has been tabbed as the key to any Celtics move for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“A potential multi-team trade framework making the rounds in league circles would bring Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Boston Celtics and send Jaylen Brown to the Los Angeles Clippers, with the Clippers’ No. 5 overall pick going to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of the return,” the report stated.
In the absence of the injured Jayson Tatum, Brown flourished and averaged 28.7 points on 47.7% shooting from the field and 34.7% from beyond the arc, along with 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists for the Celtics last season.
