Taylor Swift has been making headlines all week after making an appearance at Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals. The singer popped in to witness the San Antonio Spurs beat the New York Knicks, their only win in the series so far.
There have been questions about Swift’s loyalties in the NBA world, especially after she appeared to support the Cleveland Cavaliers alongside her partner, Travis Kelce.

Is Taylor Swift a Knicks Fan?
Knicks radio host Monica McNutt was caught on a hot microphone saying “get out of here, girl” upon spotting Swift on Celebrity Row. The radio host ended up apologizing as well, and mentioned that she did not mean any ill-intention.

McNutt’s on-air moment was not the only flashpoint from Game 4. The Knicks radio desk was unaware the broadcast was live when the comments were made, and McNutt acknowledged the error directly.
“Here’s the deal, if I’m wrong, I am wrong apparently because she’s got an original Amar’e Stoudemire jersey,” McNutt said in a subsequent TMZ interview. “I misspoke. I did not know.”
Now, former Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire has confirmed the team that Swift actually supports.
The six-time NBA All-Star who played for the Knicks from 2010 to 2015 spoke to TMZ Sports this week and delivered the character reference.
“She’s a Knicks fan, from my understanding. I mean, back when I played, we had a great friendship. She was able to come to the Knicks practice. We took her through the basketball court. We had her dunk the basketball and sat down and had a beautiful conversation with her and her family. It was a great time. I think, honestly, she’s a Knicks fan.”
The friendship between Swift and Stoudemire stretches back over a decade, and the receipts have been available for anyone willing to look. A video of Stoudemire lifting Swift for a dunk during a Knicks practice resurfaced online.
Swift addressed her fandom herself in a 2014 TIME interview. When asked whether she was a real fan even as the team struggled through a difficult season, she did not hesitate. “I love them, though. Why does that matter?” she said.
Although they go way back, Stoudemire has not yet received an invitation to Swift and Kelce’s July 3 wedding, which has been widely reported to be taking place at Madison Square Garden. At least not yet, he added. For a friendship that started at a Knicks practice more than a decade ago, a wedding at the very same building would be a fitting full circle.
