The San Antonio Spurs appeared to have the New York Knicks on the ropes in Wednesday’s Game 4 NBA Finals clash at Madison Square Garden, building a 29-point lead behind blistering hot 3-point shooting.

However, Jalen Brunson and Co. did the unthinkable, rallying for a historic 107-106 home win, with Knicks forward OG Anunoby playing the hero with a miraculous game-winning tip-in. Knicks’ 29-Point Game 4 Comeback vs. Spurs Triggers Shock and Awe

Despite entering Wednesday leading the series 2-1, New York appeared to be down and out early on. San Antonio drained a Finals record 14 3-pointers in the first half en route to a commanding 76-49 halftime advantage, which it later extended to 81-52 in the third quarter.

The Spurs went ice-cold for much of the second half, though, repeatedly making costly mistakes as their inexperience reared its head on the league’s biggest stage.

Behind a flurry of late-game 3s, the Knicks gave themselves a chance to take the lead. They swiftly capitalized, with Brunson converting a running floater to put his team in front 105-104 with 1:22 remaining.

San Antonio later regained a 1-point edge after guard Stephon Castle was fouled on a putback attempt with 30.3 seconds left and connected on both free throws.

Brunson then came up short on a pair of looks to put New York ahead in the waning seconds. His final miss, a deep triple, clanked off the front rim. Fortunately for the Knicks, Anunoby came soaring in for a tip-in to give them a 107-106 lead with 1.2 seconds to go.

The Spurs were unable to get a shot off on the other end, allowing New York to cap off the largest comeback in Finals history, to the astonishment of fellow NBA players.

“Knicks, you are the NBA Champs! Spurs, are you kidding me??” two-time All-Star guard Isaiah Thomas exclaimed.

“What did I just watch lol,” NBA guard Lonzo Ball questioned.

“Wow 🤯🔥,” Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant reacted.

“This is UNREAL!!!” three-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year and former Knick Jamal Crawford erupted.

“Knicks pull off the greatest comeback in finals history, wow,” two-time All-Star guard Victor Oladipo wrote.

“OG ANUNOBY A BAD MF!!!!!!!” New Orleans Pelicans star Dejounte Murray declared.

Brunson finished with a game-high 36 points, while Anunoby added 33 points to power New York to an improbable 3-1 series lead. They both outperformed Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama, who tallied 24 points, but shot just 9-for-25 overall (36.0%).

The Knicks are now just one victory away from their first title since 1973, with a chance to close out Wembanyama and Co. in Saturday’s Game 5 showdown in San Antonio.
