‘We Are Being Cheated,’ ‘A JOKE’ — NBA World Rips Officials’ Controversial Calls Against Knicks in Game 4 of Finals

The NBA world criticizes divisive calls against the Knicks as they fall into a 76-49 halftime deficit vs. the Spurs in Game 4.

The New York Knicks had a disastrous start to Game 4 of the NBA Finals, trailing the San Antonio Spurs 76-49 at halftime.

As Victor Wembanyama and Co. dominated, many in the NBA world criticized questionable calls that went against the Knicks.

Controversial calls early on in Game 4 led to frustration at Madison Square Garden, as Karl-Anthony Towns picked up two fouls in just over a minute and had to be sent to the bench. Mitchell Robinson was then called for a Flagrant 1 for his elbow on Wembanyama.

Knicks fan and journalist Ashley Nicole Moss led the criticism of the referees.

“Spurs shooting the lights out. So, it’s not the sole reason the Knicks are losing, but these calls have been A JOKE from tip-off,” Moss wrote on X.

Knicks fan account KnicksMuse also called out the officials.

“I have never seen anything like this in my entire life. We are being cheated out of a Finals series,” the user declared.

The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie spotlighted the lack of consistency in the officiating throughout the Finals.

“Game 4 is just honestly a brutal watch, and it’s totally because of the way the series has been officiated for the first three games. Now that they’ve allowed crazy contact everywhere, neither team knows where the line is, and officials are having to make adjustments on the fly,” Vecenie suggested.

One basketball content creator similarly claimed that the Knicks have received the short end of the stick with the Finals officiating.

“These refs have been jobbing the Knicks all series long, my God man,” the user fumed.

Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor slammed the referees for calling Towns’ second foul, which had originally been ruled as a foul on Wembanyama before being overturned on a challenge by the Spurs.

“I truly can’t believe this call,” O’Connor reacted.

Journalist Andrew Perloff seconded that thought.

“I’m not a Knicks fan, but the second foul call on KAT on the overturn was one of the worst calls I’ve seen in a Finals. And that was off a replay,” Perloff observed.

NBA writer Andy Bailey quipped that a video compilation of all the calls against the Knicks would go viral on social media.

“The Knicks’ bad-whistle reels after this series are going to do massive numbers,” Bailey wrote.

Radio and TV host Peter Rosenberg also took exception to the Game 4 officiating.

“Don’t know if I’ve ever seen an offensive foul call that weak. And this is after the league decided Wemby committed no flagrant when he assaulted Brunson worse than Spurs fans were catching it in Bryant Park,” Rosenberg opined.

While the Knicks found themselves in a huge hole heading into the second half, they responded with a promising start to the third quarter, injecting some life back into MSG.
