The San Antonio Spurs routed the Minnesota Timberwolves 139-109 on Friday night to book their berth in the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2017.
Led by a 32-point explosion from Stephon Castle, the Spurs had the Wolves chasing shadows for a major part of the game.
However, the internet was more eager to point out Victor Wembanyama’s first-quarter theatrics.

The much-debated incident went down early in the first quarter. San Antonio was up 20-11 when the Timberwolves’ Julius Randle went up near the paint for a rebound and brushed against Wembanyama.
With minimal contact, the Spurs’ star launched himself toward the hardwood, drawing the ire of fans online.

Minutes after the clip was uploaded, social media exploded with criticism for the two-time All-Star. Fans dragged Wembanyama ruthlessly for the exaggeration.
“Wemby’s flopping gotta stop man. You’re 8ft tall, have some shame,” one user wrote.

“WEMBY STOP FLOPPING!!!!” another exclaimed.
“Victor Wembanyama being 7-foot-13 is a big enough advantage. He does not need to be getting foul calls like he’s SGA,” sports reporter Tony Liebert posted.

“Victor Wembanyama dives to the ground after a touch by Julius Randle, and Keldon Johnson fouls Randle (with a replay). Wemby flopped like a fish here, xD,” one handle posted, sharing the clip of the incident.

Tanner Anderson also brought up Wembanyama’s previous comments on “ethical basketball” made back in December 2025, writing, “Wemby b**ches about ethical basketball and then he flops like he does. Disgusting.”

For context, Wemby took a dig at the Oklahoma City Thunder in his postgame comments last December after the Spurs beat OKC in the NBA Cup semifinals.
“I’m just glad to be part of something that’s growing to be so beautiful… pure and ethical basketball,” Wembanyama stated.
While the flopping incident remained a topic of debate throughout the game, the Frenchman still finished Game 6 with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks in 27 minutes.
Shedding its label as the young, inexperienced rebuild project, San Antonio continues to eliminate serious challengers en route to its first conference finals in nearly a decade.
Wembanyama has become the focal point of a team growing in belief each day as they prepare to take on the 8-0 Thunder in the Western Conference finals.
OKC relies heavily on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to generate offense. And while SGA did not have his best series against the Los Angeles Lakers and has a notorious reputation for foul-baiting, the Spurs-OKC matchup is going to be anything but a “flop show.”
