Victor Wembanyama dazzles the NBA world after dominating Rudy Gobert in the Spurs' Game 5 statement win vs. Minnesota.

Victor Wembanyama showed out in the San Antonio Spurs’ 126-97 Game 5 blowout home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday.

In his first outing since his controversial Game 4 ejection, the superstar center had his way with fellow Frenchman Rudy Gobert, with his flashy offensive repertoire electrifying the NBA world.

Victor Wembanyama’s Game 5 Masterclass Leaves NBA World in Disbelief

Wembanyama made a muted impact in Sunday’s 114-109 Game 4 road loss, logging just 4 points and 4 rebounds across 12 minutes before his early second-quarter ejection for elbowing Timberwolves big man Naz Reid.

However, Wembanyama was back to his usual dominant ways on Tuesday as San Antonio built multiple double-digit leads throughout the night. The two-time All-Star came out of the gates aggressively, recording 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 3-pointers on 6-for-8 shooting from the field (75%) in the first quarter.

While the Spurs led by as many as 18 points in the opening half, Minnesota came roaring back, beginning the third quarter on a 14-2 run to tie the game at 61-61. The Timberwolves’ defense collapsed from that point on, though, with Wembanyama and Co. building a 30-point advantage en route to taking a 3-2 series lead.

Wembanyama delivered multiple highlight-worthy plays at Gobert’s expense amid San Antonio’s statement victory. Midway through the first quarter, the 22-year-old secured a rebound, brought the ball up the court, crossed up Gobert, spun, and finished with a throwdown over the four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

With the contest well out of reach late in the fourth quarter, Wembanyama also turned heads by spinning, palming the ball, and faking out Gobert before dishing to forward Julian Champagnie for an easy basket inside.

Both moves left the NBA community on X buzzing.

“WEMBY HAS GONE MAD TONIGHT,” NBA personality MrBuckBuck exclaimed after Wembanyama’s early throwdown.

The user later described the French phenom’s late-game ball fake on Gobert as “funny.”

“Nah, man, what Victor Wembanyama was doing to Rudy Gobert is DIABOLICAL. Dylan Harper couldn’t believe his eyes 😂🤣,” Hater Report declared.

“Gobert completely LOST on the play. It’s absurd about Victor Wembanyama, holy sh*t,” Brooklyn Guy reacted.

“Legend has it Gobert still spinning around right now,” another user quipped.

Meanwhile, Spurs reporter Dusty Garza dubbed Wembanyama’s performance a “REVENGE GAME,” citing Anthony Edwards’ postgame admission that the Timberwolves had no “answer” for him.

Wembanyama ended the evening with 27 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks on 9-for-16 shooting (56.3%), becoming the third-youngest player in NBA history to record at least 25/15/5 in a postseason outing. Conversely, Gobert mustered just 4 points and 5 rebounds on 1-for-4 shooting (25%).

San Antonio will look to close out the Western Conference semifinal series during Friday’s Game 6 showdown in Minnesota and advance to face the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
