Victor Wembanyama avoided further discipline for his nasty elbow on Minnesota Timberwolves big man Naz Reid, which led to his first career ejection in Sunday’s 114-109 Game 4 road loss.
While the NBA has no plans to punish the San Antonio Spurs superstar, Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green believes the Timberwolves should take matters into their own hands. The four-time champion’s blunt take on the controversy triggered passionate reactions across the NBA world.

NBA World Reacts to Draymond Green Imploring Wolves to ‘Get Back’ at Victor Wembanyama
Wembanyama’s night was cut short on Sunday after just 12 minutes of action. After grabbing an offensive rebound over Reid and drawing a double-team early in the second quarter, Wembanyama turned and elbowed the 2024 NBA Sixth Man of the Year directly in the jaw and neck area.
The foul was promptly upgraded to a flagrant 2 for excessive contact, resulting in the two-time All-Star’s automatic ejection. Minnesota went on to prevail and tie the series 2-2, with concerns mounting about Wembanyama’s availability for the rest of the Western Conference semifinals.
On Monday’s edition of “The Draymond Green Show,” Green pushed back on Wembanyama getting away scot-free, urging the Timberwolves to seek revenge for Reid.
“What if the shoe was on the other foot and it was Naz Reid taking out Wemby? I think this situation would look totally different. There would be fines, there would be suspensions,” Green began.
“… I would say to the Minnesota Timberwolves, ‘Hey guys, this is fair game. There’s no suspension, there’s no fines. This is fair game. Who’s coming out there tonight or tomorrow night and doing it to Wemby? Who’s gonna elbow him in the face?’ That’s what I would be saying.”
The four-time All-Star even went as far as to claim that “if nobody’s coming back at those guys, going back at Wemby, you lose the war.”
Green, who has a well-documented history of fines and suspensions stemming from physical altercations, swiftly caused a stir on X. However, the 36-year-old garnered considerable support for his bold stance.
“I’m not sure I’ve ever agreed with Draymond, but he’s 100% correct here,” one user admitted.

“It only took Draymond Green 15 years in the league and 6 years with a podcast to finally say something not stupid, let’s give him a hand 👏,” another Timberwolves fan quipped.

Still, some questioned if Green was the best person to weigh in on Wembanyama’s situation.
“Not the right guy to be breaking down first-time offenders. How many kicks and elbows did you get overlooked before you got suspended, sir?” former NBA veteran-turned-Phoenix Suns commentator Eddie Johnson asked Green.
