“Just basketball motivates me,” Luka Dončić once said. Over the last couple of weeks, he has been proving that statement on the court.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar has been on a scoring run that has not only helped his team reach a strong 46-25 record but also placed him alongside legends like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan in a rare statistical feat.

Luka Dončić Joins Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan in Rare Scoring Feat
It all started in a game against the Houston Rockets three days back. Dončić came very close to a triple-double as he finished that game with 40 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. While it was already an impressive performance, it was only a preview of what was coming next.
“Yeah, I feel like my three-ball is going well, and then I’m attacking a lot of the paint. So just trying to read the game,” Dončić said, according to Spectrum SportsNet.
In the following game against the Miami Heat, Dončić raised his level even further. He scored 60 points, along with 7 rebounds and 3 assists. With that performance, he crossed the 100-point mark across back-to-back games, reaching a combined total of 100 points.
This achievement placed him in a rare group of players who have managed such scoring output in consecutive games. By doing this, Dončić joined the company of Bryant and Jordan. Back on March 22, 2007, Bryant delivered a performance with 60 points in a close 121-119 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

That game was part of an incredible stretch where Bryant scored 50 or more points in 4 straight games. The very next night, he added another 50 points against the New Orleans Hornets, bringing his 2-game total to 110 points.
Similarly, Jordan had achieved a comparable feat during the 1987 season. On April 12, he scored 53 points against the Indiana Pacers. In the very next game, he followed it up with 50 points against the Milwaukee Bucks, combining for 103 points across 2 games.
These performances have long been seen as examples of pure scoring dominance, and now Dončić has added his name to that conversation.
But it was not just those 2 games that made the last stretch so impressive. In his most recent game against the Orlando Magic, Dončić added 33 points and 8 assists as the Lakers beat the Magic 105-104. He was helped by players like Austin Reaves and LeBron James, who scored 26 and 12 points, respectively.
He said basketball motivates him. Right now, he is showing everyone just how much.
