Giannis Antetokounmpo is once again on the injury list. “The Greek Freak” recently sustained an injury when the Milwaukee Bucks took on the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. An NBA insider recently shared the latest update on Antetokounmpo’s injury timeline on social media.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Expected to Miss One Week
The Bucks and the Pacers faced off on Sunday when Antetokounmpo hurt his left knee. The injury took place sometime in the third quarter when Antetokounmpo landed awkwardly from a dunk.
The two-time MVP grimaced in pain, but he attempted to play through the injury. However, the Bucks’ coaching staff opted to sit him out later on the night. At that point, it was unclear whether Antetokounmpo was hurt or not. But then it was announced that he was ruled out for the Bucks’ game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday.
Antetokounmpo still managed to finish the game with a solid double-double outing after 23 minutes of play. He added 31 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists.
NBA insider Shams Charania provided an update regarding Antetokounmpo’s injury. Charania revealed that the Bucks star suffered from a left knee hyperextension and a bone bruise. Antetokounmpo is expected to miss one week of action.
“Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo has been diagnosed with a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise and will be re-evaluated in one week,” Charania reported on X.

Antetokounmpo’s latest injury is the fifth so far this season. His injury woes began in November 2025. He initially suffered from a low-grade left groin strain, followed by a right calf strain in December.
Come January, he re-injured his right calf, putting him on the shelf for 15 consecutive games. Then, last Thursday, Antetokounmpo sustained a left ankle sprain, forcing him to sit out the Bucks’ game against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.
Looking at the Bucks’ calendar, the earliest possible date for Antetokounmpo’s return could be March 23, when they take on the LA Clippers. That’s only given if nothing else goes wrong in Antetokounmpo’s recovery period.
However, with 15 games remaining in their season, the Bucks are running out of time to secure a spot in the Play-In Tournament. Milwaukee is currently in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with a 28-39 record. They are nearly six games behind the 10th-placed Charlotte Hornets (34-34).
With Antetokounmpo potentially missing three games at least, the Bucks’ chances at a playoff berth are slim.
