Luka Dončić Leaves Fans in Splits After Explaining Why He Stopped Playing Soccer

Speaking during the event, Dončić was asked about playing soccer during his younger years in Slovenia. The All-Star guard revealed that while he did play a bit, he soon switched sports, and the reason for the move was as honest as, “I wasn’t that good.”

This response had the fans in attendance roaring with laughter, with Dončić smiling after his explanation. The Lakers star was dressed in a crisp black tee and trousers. He appeared relaxed and also reflected on his Real Madrid club days.

The latest comes on the back of the guard’s comments after the Lakers’ thumping, 110-97, win over the in-form New York Knicks. Dončić and the Lakers are in the middle of what promises to be a stern test as their regular season inches to a close.

“It’s a pretty awesome win, for sure,” Dončić said. “They just came and beat the Nuggets by 40, so I think it’s a pretty big win for us. It gives us a lot of confidence moving forward.”

The win will surely inspire confidence for a team that has blown hot and cold on both ends of the floor this season. While Dončić has been a force, the Lakers have been guilty of poor execution in certain winnable contests.

Dončić continues to be the spearhead on offense for the Lakers. He averages a team-high and league-high 32.5 points per game, along with 7.8 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game while shooting 47.4% from the field and 36.0% from the 3-point line. While he continues to perform at a high level, Los Angeles is yet to look as impressive as it did last year during the regular season.

On the season front, the Lakers are 39-25 after their recent win over the Knicks. Up next, they play the Minnesota Timberwolves at home on Tuesday (March 10), followed by the Chicago Bulls and the Denver Nuggets. They then head to Houston for a two-game road series against Kevin Durant and the Rockets.
