When Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has a game as he did a decade ago, he’s not going to forget about it. Curry put on quite a show as the Warriors duked it out against the Oklahoma City Thunder in a nationally televised game.
On the call for ABC Sports this night was legendary NBA play-by-play announcer Mike Breen, who also calls New York Knicks games, too. Breen is known for his emphatic “Bang!” call when clutch shots are made. But a “Bang! Bang!” call from Breen? That’s special.
Warriors’ Stephen Curry Remembers Clutch Game, Mike Breen Call
On Friday, Curry shared a video montage of his and the Warriors’ game against the Thunder. With seconds left and the game tied at 118, Curry got the ball and went downcourt. From way beyond the 3-point arc, Curry let a shot fly that swished clean in the basket.
That led to Breen’s double-bang call. Curry posted on X with the video, “Can’t believe it’s been a decade already. What a time it was. The original double bang, shout out to Mike Breen!”

“They do have a timeout, decide not to use it,” Breen said. “Curry from way downtown. Bang! Bang! Oh, what a shot from Curry! With six-tenths of a second remaining! The brilliant shooting of Stephen Curry continues!”
The video also showed Curry dancing around on the court before going into a huddle with his Warriors teammates, who were congratulating Curry on his clutch shot.
At this time, Curry is out of the Warriors’ lineup. He reportedly is dealing with what is commonly called “runner’s knee.” Curry has missed up to 19 games this season for the Warriors, leaving Golden State head coach Steve Kerr to wonder whether he’ll have his star guard down the stretch.
Curry is averaging 27.2 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, and 4.8 assists per game. He was Golden State’s first-round draft pick (No. 7 overall) in the 2009 NBA Draft.
Getting a guy like Breen to call what is one of Curry’s career highlights is not something that gets forgotten about at all. Breen is a pro’s pro behind the microphone. So, it’s very, very rare to hear him give a double-bang call for any player.
But it’s hard not to say that Curry is a very, very rare player in the NBA. He’s probably hoping that he can get healthy soon and return to the Warriors’ lineup as soon as possible.
