On Tuesday night, Atlanta Hawks forward Jonathan Kuminga made his season debut with his new team after being traded from the Golden State Warriors. Kuminga and Buddy Hield were sent to the Hawks in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis.
While the Hawks will host the Washington Wizards at home Thursday night, one former three-time NBA All-Star has made it clear that Kuminga will seek revenge against the Warriors for trading him.

Gilbert Arenas, host of the “Gil’s Arena” podcast, had pointed words for Golden State head coach Steve Kerr regarding Kuminga, with the March 21 game between the Warriors and the Hawks looming.
“Steve Kerr, I’m telling yo,u and I’m telling you as a hooper: Don’t double. You didn’t double nobody all year. Don’t double. Whoever was playing in front of him, check up,” Arenas said.
“And he is going to barbecue the s**t, because everybody in Atlanta, even if he is new, they going to be like, ‘We understand, do your thing.’ He gonna get all the shots and I don’t wanna see no doubling,” Arenas continued.

Arenas added that double-teaming Kuminga would make the Warriors look weak, especially after Kerr previously dismissed his value.
“Don’t double because if you double, you look weak as a coach and as an organization. You can’t double because you said he was nothing. Don’t come out and start doubling a player you said ain’t worth nothing,” Arenas said.
Co-host Brandon Jennings, meanwhile, said that whoever played ahead of Kuminga in Golden State’s rotation should be the one guarding him.

Splitting time between the Warriors and Hawks, Kuminga is averaging 12.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game. He was a first-round draft pick by the Warriors in the 2021 NBA Draft.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward had his best scoring season in 2023-24, averaging 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. The Hawks hope Kuminga will deliver a standout performance against his former team as well.
