Is Stephen Curry Playing Today? Latest on the Warriors Superstar’s Injury and Status vs. Celtics

Stephen Curry’s injury status takes center stage as the Golden State Warriors prepare to face the Celtics in today’s showdown.

The Golden State Warriors are set to face the Boston Celtics on Thursday. One of the biggest questions is whether Stephen Curry will be available to play.

Curry sustained a knee injury on Jan. 30, when the Warriors faced the Detroit Pistons. He experienced soreness in his right knee and was forced to exit early, which contributed to Golden State’s loss. Since then, Curry has missed five consecutive games and sat out last weekend’s 75th All‑Star Game despite being voted a starter. With teams returning from the short All‑Star break, many are wondering if Curry will play.

Stephen Curry Out vs. Celtics

In the Warriors’ first game after the All‑Star break against the Celtics, Curry will remain out. According to NBA insider Anthony Slater, Curry opted not to practice for Thursday’s game. Head coach Steve Kerr said Curry does not feel his knee is ready.

“Steph Curry didn’t (practice),” Slater reported on X. “Steve Kerr told reporters Curry didn’t yet feel the knee was ready for a full workout and will meet with training staff tonight.”

The Warriors held practice on Wednesday in preparation for the Celtics. Kerr said Curry did not want to put stress on his knee by participating in the full workout.

“Steve Kerr said the Warriors’ training staff and Steph Curry opted against the full workout tonight when he reported not feeling it ready,” Slater added in another report on X. “Called the ‘runner’s knee’ issue Curry is dealing with nebulous.”

With the Warriors sitting in eighth place in the Western Conference at 29‑26, Kerr emphasized caution to ensure Curry can remain healthy for the rest of the regular season and help secure a playoff berth.

“We’ve got to be certain,” Kerr told reporters. “He’s got to be certain.”

The Warriors’ official injury report lists Curry as out with right patellofemoral pain syndrome, while his brother Seth is sidelined due to left sciatic nerve irritation. Jimmy Butler III remains unavailable as he continues to recover from a torn right ACL.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are hopeful that Kristaps Porzingis, who is under left Achilles tendon injury management, could make his debut with the team after being acquired in exchange for Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield.

After facing the Celtics, the Warriors’ next matchup will be a home game against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Following that, they will head out for back-to-back road contests against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday and the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
