Minnesota Timberwolves Release 4-Year NBA Player Before Mavs Game

The Minnesota Timberwolves made a roster move before their game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Johnny Juzang is in the middle of his fourth NBA season.

He is currently averaging 2.0 points per contest while shooting 42.1% from the field and 25.0% from three-point range in 21 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

According to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Timberwolves will now release Juzang.

Minnesota Timberwolves Release Johnny Juzang

Via Krawczynski: “The Timberwolves are waiving Johnny Juzang. He shot the lights out in the preseason but was never able to crack the rotation. He impressed the Wolves with his work ethic. Now maybe he will get a chance at consistent playing time elsewhere.”

Juzang spent the first three years of his career playing for the Utah Jazz.

Over 123 games (23 starts), the 24-year-old has averages of 6.9 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest while shooting 42.1% from the field and 35.8% from three-point range.

Due to Juzang’s young age, it would be no surprise to see another team add him (now or over the summer).

As for the Timberwolves, they are the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 34-22 record in 56 games.

They are in the middle of a two-game winning streak (and have won seven out of their last ten).

Following the All-Star break, the Timberwolves will resume action when they host the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night at the Target Center.

Via Ryan Eichten: “Thought Juzang was a possibility for the Wolves final roster spot, but it appears they will be going in a different direction. Makess sense to let him go now and allow him to latch on with another team that might have more playing time”

The Timberwolves are coming off a season where they reached the Western Conference finals for the second straight year.

There is an excellent chance they will be able to return there for a third straight year.
