Chris Paul Gets Candid About the ‘Best Organization’ He Played for Throughout His NBA Career

Chris Paul revealed the best organization he played for across his 21-year career. His answer may surprise a lot of people.

Chris Paul’s best individual seasons came when he wore a Los Angeles Clippers Uniform from 2011-2017. However, he surprisingly revealed a different organization he holds in higher regard when reflecting on his 21-year career.

Chris Paul Puts the Team Where He Played for Just One Season As the Best Organization

The San Antonio Spurs gave Paul a framed picture when he took over second place on the all-time assist list in the 2024-25 campaign. He finished his impressive career in the same position with 12,552 dimes. The future Hall of Famer praised the Spurs organization while talking about the picture in a recent video.

“It’s so dope ’cause the Spurs gave me this last year, my best organization I played for. This goes in order for who I gave the most assists to,” Paul expressed proudly.

The 12-time All-Star announced his retirement on Feb. 13, 2026. He only played one season for the Spurs, but he clearly made a lasting impact on the organization. Paul served as an important veteran presence for the younger San Antonio players like Stephon Castle and Victor Wembanyama. In fact, Paul’s locker was right next to Castle’s. The 21-year-old spoke on the veteran’s impact on his career at All-Star Weekend.

“What he showed me last year, I feel like it helped me this year … He was a coach on the floor for us at all times, especially for me … It was a sense of stability, and then he was an even better person off the court, so super cool to be around,” said Castle.

The 2024-25 Rookie of the Year averages 16.5 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals on the campaign. His growth and Paul’s impact remain big reasons why San Antonio holds the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference with a 38-16 record- a big improvement from its 34-48 record last season.

Over seven seasons with Los Angeles, Paul averaged 18.2 points, 9.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals. He, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan formed one of the most exciting trios in NBA history in the 2010s. Paul signed with the Clippers for a potential nostalgic send-off this season, but he and the organization did not see eye-to-eye.

Los Angeles sent him home and eventually traded him to the Toronto Raptors. Paul never reported to his new squad and retired shortly after.
