We are just over 24 hours away from the NBA trade deadline, and teams are wasting no time getting deals done. On Tuesday, James Harden, Nikola Vucevic, and Jaren Jackson Jr. were among the players moved, and Wednesday and Thursday are gearing up to be just as active.
The latest deal to be completed on Wednesday involves the Philadelphia 76ers sending former first-round pick Jared McCain to a Western Conference contender looking to add more shooting to its bench.
76ers Trade McCain to Oklahoma City Thunder for Package of Picks
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the 76ers are sending guard Jared McCain to the Thunder for a 2026 Rockets first-round pick and three second-round picks.

McCain played a diminished role for the 76ers this season compared to his rookie year. The guard is averaging 6.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in just under 17 minutes per game.
As a rookie, it seemed like McCain was going to blossom into a key contributor for the 76ers. Unfortunately, an injury ended his rookie campaign in December, and he was unable to regain his spot in the rotation this season.
Now, McCain will get a chance to reinvent himself with the best team in the league. The Thunder can certainly use more shooting, while the 76ers can now use McCain’s roster spot to convert Dominick Barlow to a standard contract.
This deal also comes after Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander suffered an injury on Tuesday night and is expected to miss a couple of weeks. McCain gives the team another scoring guard to help out while Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams get healthy.
McCain carries a cap hit of $4.2 million this season, $4.4 million next season, and has a $6.7 million club option for the 2027-28 season.
Thunder Looking for Back-to-Back Championships in 2025-26
The Thunder still have the best record in the NBA, at 40-11, despite dealing with their fair share of injuries. Williams, Alex Caruso, and Isaiah Hartenstein have missed a considerable amount of time, and now Gilgeous-Alexander is slated to miss several games as well.
If there’s one thing the Thunder could use, it’s more shooting. The Thunder are currently 15th in the league in three-point percentage. Williams, Caruso, and Luguentz Dort have all been inconsistent from beyond the arc this season, so McCain could help out instantly.
McCain is shooting 38.5% from the field this season and 37.8% from deep. If the Thunder get more out of McCain than the Sixers did this season, they could have another key piece as they look to repeat as champions.
