With news spreading around the NBA world on Wednesday that the Washington Wizards have acquired 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis in a blockbuster trade, there’s going to be some adjustments to the Wizards’ depth chart.
Davis was sent to the Wizards along with Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell, and Dante Exum. In exchange, Washington is sending Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, two first-round picks, and three second-round picks to the Mavericks.
What Does Wizards’ Depth Chart Look Like After Trade?
Davis was a starter for the Mavericks at forward. Hardy was listed as the third option on the Mavericks’ depth chart at shooting guard, so he’ll be taking up a spot for Washington in its depth chart. Russell was listed as the fourth option at point guard in Dallas behind rookie sensation Cooper Flagg. Exum was a point guard for the Mavericks, too.
What has Davis been playing like this season? According to his statistics, Davis is averaging 20.4 points per game, 11.1 rebounds per game, and is shooting 50.6% from the floor.
In this season, Hardy is averaging 6.9 points and 1.4 rebounds per game, and shooting 40.2% from the floor. This trade by the Mavericks comes about a year after the organization traded superstar Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers.
As for Russell, he’s averaging 10.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, and shooting 40.5% from the floor this season.
Exum, who underwent season-ending knee surgery two months ago, was averaging 8.7 points per game, 2.8 assists per game, and was shooting 47.8% from the floor, too.
Now, the Wizards will have to adjust how they move forward this season after this trade went down. The Wizards are 13-36 for the season and, at this point, probably are looking to just play out the rest of this season. Still, Washington made this move in the hopes of improving next season’s record.

Among Washington’s starters at this point are point guard Tre Johnson, guard Kyshawn George, forward Bilal Coulibaly, and center Alex Sarr. Will Riley or Justin Champagnie might be looked at to fill Middleton’s shoes at his forward spot.
Up next for the Wizards on their 2025-26 NBA schedule is the Detroit Pistons, and Washington will play the front-running Pistons on the road on Thursday night. How will Davis and his fellow Mavericks fit into the Wizards’ depth chart? That will be something Wizards fans will watch very closely.
The players that Washington acquired in this blockbuster NBA trade are going to be in the spotlight. So, they’re going to have to show they want to play with the Wizards, not just sit on the sidelines and watch the team finish out this season.
