NBA Insider Offers Insight into Warriors-Giannis Trade Talk

On Tuesday night, NBA Insider Marc Stein of “The Stein Line” shared some of the latest intel revolving around Antetokounmpo and the Warriors. In fact, one of the Warriors’ superstars is landing in the rumor mill at this time.

“The Warriors, no matter what you’ve read elsewhere, continue to pursue Antetokounmpo,” Stein wrote.

“The Stein Line was the first to report on Jan. 23 that Jimmy Butler would not be included in Golden State’s Giannis offers, and it has since been confirmed that the Warriors have indeed made Draymond Green part of their pitch to Milwaukee in presumed combination with Jonathan Kuminga, Milwaukee native Brandin Podziemski, and draft capital,” Stein wrote.

Green has been a part of the Warriors’ NBA championship teams, playing alongside Steph Curry and other teammates. According to Spotrac, Green signed a four-year, $100,000,000 contract with the Warriors, including $100,000,000 in guaranteed money and an average annual salary of $25,000,000.

In the 2025-26 NBA season, Green will earn a base salary of $25,892,857, while carrying a cap hit of $25,892,857 and a dead cap value of $25,892,857.

At this moment, Antetokounmpo is out of the Bucks’ lineup with a right calf strain. He suffered the injury in late January. At that point, the Bucks concluded that he would miss between 4-6 weeks of action. Should any trade go down involving Antetokounmpo, he’d probably not be ready to play for a new team anytime soon.

Antetokounmpo played a major role in helping the Bucks win an NBA championship in the 2020-21 NBA season. It was the franchise’s first NBA title since the 1970-71 NBA season, when Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played a big role in that championship.

What’s Antetokounmpo looking like from a statistical standpoint right now? He’s averaging 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, and shooting 64.5% from the floor.

As the NBA trade deadline clock ticks down to its final hours on Thursday, the NBA world will be watching to see if Antetokounmpo remains with Milwaukee. There is plenty of talk around him at this moment, so it’ll be interesting to see what, if anything, happens.
