Warriors Insider Reveals Draymond Green’s Current Mindset Ahead of Potential Trade

NBA insider Sam Amick recently revealed Golden State Warriors' star Draymond Green's mindset ahead of a possible trade to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Golden State Warriors legend Draymond Green may potentially be on his way out ahead of the trade deadline. According to recent reports, the Warriors’ star may find himself as a bargaining chip in a deal that could send Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Green holds a $25.8 million cap hit with a $27.6 million player option for next season. A four-time NBA champion and All-Star, the Warriors’ forward has spent his entire career in San Francisco.

Warriors Insider Reveals Draymond Green Is Aware of His Trade Prospects

According to a recent report from the New York Times’ Sam Amick, Green’s camp is preparing for a potential trade in the coming days. The Warriors’ star has averaged 8.4 points per game this season, with the Warriors sitting 8th in the Western Conference.

“To that point, league sources say Draymond Green and his camp are well aware that the prospect of him being sent to Milwaukee is very real. As our Nick Friedell reported on Monday, Jimmy Butler has been given strong indications that the Warriors plan to ‘stick by him, ‘ the report revealed.

With serious interest in the Milwaukee Bucks star, according to ESPN, the Warriors have to include either injured star Jimmy Butler III or Green to make the salaries match. Butler is currently projected to make $56.8 million next year.

Currently, Antetokounmpo is earning $54.1 million this season. Additionally, in his report, Amnick wrote that the Bucks are currently prioritizing impact players in any blockbuster deal, with the 35-year-old Warriors veteran as the preferred option.

“What’s more, league sources say the Bucks are known to be prioritizing impact players in talks and, as such, would prefer a healthy player like Green as opposed to one in Butler who likely won’t return until midway through next season,” Amick wrote.

According to Amick, the projected offer the Warriors would make to the Bucks is four first-round picks and a first-round swap, along with Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Brandin Podziemski.

However, there is a serious chance that this saga drags on into next year. Should the Bucks GM Jon Horst not deem any of the offered packages sufficient for the two-time MVP, discussions may continue into the Summertime. Additionally, it was reported that Giannis may be ‘turned off’ by a switch to the Warriors.

With the Warriors among the frontrunners to add Giannis to their roster, there is also reported interest from the Miami Heat, New York Knicks, and Minnesota Timberwolves as of today. However, there is no guarantee that this story will have a satisfying conclusion.

There are just over 48 hours until the NBA trade deadline, with the trade deadline set to expire on Feb. 5, 2026, at 3 p.m. ET.
