The Giannis Antetokounmpo trade sweepstakes remain at the center of the NBA world ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Milwaukee Bucks will listen to offers from “several teams.” The Miami Heat may already possess one of the strongest trade packages, combining young players and multiple first-round picks for the Bucks’ superstar.

Miami Heat Have the Pieces to Trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo
After Charania broke the latest Antetokounmpo update on Jan. 28, the Heat immediately emerged as a potential trade partner for the superstar. Antetokounmpo previously listed Miami as a preferred free-agent destination before ultimately signing two contract extensions to remain in Milwaukee. Now, the Heat appear positioned to acquire the nine-time All-Star via trade.
Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line outlined the type of return Miami would need to offer for Antetokounmpo.
“The Heat’s best offer is presumed to be a package headlined by Wisconsin native Tyler Herro, rising big man Ke’lel Ware and tradeable first-round picks in 2030 and 2032 … Heat officials are said to believe that they have a real shot at ultimately winning the Giannis Sweepstakes,” the insiders reported.
Miami has significant draft capital available. The franchise controls all of its first-round picks except for 2027. If the Bucks agreed to such a deal, the Heat would still retain four first-round selections over the next seven drafts. Antetokounmpo would arrive without Miami fully mortgaging its future flexibility.
Herro earned his first All-Star selection last season, but injuries have limited him to just 11 games this year. He missed the first 17 games while recovering from offseason foot surgery and later suffered toe and rib injuries that extended his absence. If the 26-year-old scorer were traded to Milwaukee, he would become a foundational backcourt piece alongside 23-year-old breakout guard Ryan Rollins.
Losing Herro would be significant for Miami, but the Heat acquired Norman Powell last summer. Powell is averaging a career-high 23.0 points per game on 47.3% shooting. Miami would rely on his perimeter shooting and shot creation, while Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo would anchor the interior.
Kel’el Ware Gets Fresh Start
When Adebayo missed time earlier this season, Ware displayed considerable offensive upside. He scored at least 15 points 13 times in 27 starts. However, with Miami’s frontcourt at full strength, the 21-year-old has seen his role reduced.
Ware averages 11.5 points and 9.6 rebounds in 23.4 minutes per game this season. His per-minute production suggests he could thrive with expanded responsibilities. Milwaukee signed Myles Turner last summer, but if Antetokounmpo departs, Ware could slot in as a starting power forward. He is shooting 39.1% from 3-point range on 5.8 attempts per game, and a pairing with Turner would offer both floor spacing and rim protection.
The Heat have the young talent and draft assets Milwaukee is seeking in a potential Antetokounmpo deal. Whether the Bucks decide to act before next week’s deadline remains uncertain.
