Bucks Announce a Heartwarming Gesture After NBA Postpones Mavericks Game Due to Dallas Weather

The Milwaukee Bucks made a heartwarming gesture to the Dallas Mavericks after their game's postponement.

The Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas Mavericks were scheduled to face off on Sunday. It was supposedly an important game for both teams as they continue their quest to re-establish their positions in their respective conferences.

Unfortunately for the Mavericks, they couldn’t travel to Milwaukee on Sunday due to the severe weather. While they weren’t obliged to do so, the Bucks organization made a heartwarming gesture to Dallas.

Bucks Organization Donated Food to Dallas

The Bucks are trying to make their way back into the Play-In Tournament picture, as they are currently in 11th place in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, the same can be said of the Mavericks, who are placed 12th in the West.

The Bucks-Mavericks game was postponed due to a severe winter storm that hit Texas. The hazardous winter weather in North Texas included snow, sleet, and freezing rain, which led to the cancellation of over 1,000 flights in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

It’s worth noting that the Mavericks attempted to fly out a couple of times on Sunday but couldn’t make their way to Milwaukee due to the severity of the storm. As a result, the game had to be moved to another date.

The team had initially planned to leave Dallas at around 11:30 a.m. CDT, but it became increasingly clear that playing Sunday night’s game was unrealistic.

Meanwhile, the Bucks organization was fully supportive of their Texan rivals and donated prepared food from Sunday’s game to shelters in Dallas. The Bucks and Fiserv Forum president, Josh Glessing, released a statement following the postponement of the game.

“Following the postponement of tonight’s Milwaukee Bucks-Dallas Mavericks game at Fiserv Forum, the Bucks organization is donating food that was prepared for the concessions stands and premium areas to those in need in the community,” the statement reads. “We thank Sojourner Family Peace Center and Hunger Task Force for their great assistance in delivering the food to shelters (on Sunday).”

As of this writing, there is no official game day between the Bucks and Mavericks. We’ll have to wait for further announcements this week.

It’s also worth noting that another game was postponed on Sunday. The Denver Nuggets were set to face off against the Memphis Grizzlies. However, similar to Dallas, the Memphis area is also experiencing a horrible winter storm. The NBA has yet to announce the new game day for both teams.
