Not only are the Milwaukee Bucks stuck between a rock and a hard place right now, but every loss that drops them further from the Eastern Conference playoff race only makes the walls close in on them with each passing second. It’s getting harder to remain optimistic about the Bucks’ playoff chances despite Giannis Antetokounmpo’s efforts.
Which only makes it harder not to confront the elephant in the room: trading Antetokounmpo. No, the Bucks have not crossed that line, but the clock is ticking, and the losing is understandably making the two-time MVP lose his patience.

Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo in Ongoing Conversation on Star’s Future
ESPN’s Shams Charania revealed on “The Pat McAfee Show” the latest on where the Bucks and Antetokounmpo currently stand.
“Giannis & the Bucks, they’ve been having ongoing conversations about his future, even going back to May,” Charania said. “…Those conversations have only grown with every passing week since May, and recently the Bucks and Giannis’ conversations have intensified in nature.”

It’s a tough situation. At this point, it’s in the Bucks’ best interest to start over because they are essentially out of options at this point, but because Antetokounmpo is as good as he is, trading him isn’t so simple because it’s doubtful they may be able to find a player as good as him for decades.
Antetokounmpo is the best player the Bucks have had since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, which is why letting him go is so difficult. He’s not just a franchise player, but an all-time player whose archetype is very rare. The fact that the Bucks are as bad as they are reflects entirely on their failure to build a contender around him, not on his efforts.
It’s difficult to grasp how this situation will resolve itself. Do the Bucks keep this going until he finally bites the bullet and requests a trade, or do they think it’s in everyone’s best interest to end this as soon as possible before he does that?
They could keep up hope that they will turn themselves around, but that’s hard to figure out how that would happen because the team, as currently constructed, isn’t working, and Milwaukee doesn’t really have the assets to improve from their current standing. They could acquire an upgrade on an overpaid contract, like Zach LaVine or Jerami Grant, but odds are that it would just make the problem worse.
