Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić and internet personality Kim Kardashian were recently the subject of a rumor. Kardashian addressed the speculation while also implying it may be one of the reasons she has not attended a Lakers game.
Kim Kardashian Addresses the Rumors Surrounding Her and Luka Dončić
Dončić’s move to the Lakers was embroiled in drama that could have been fit for Hollywood. While most of that drama involved front offices and players, another rumor emerged from AI-generated content involving Kardashian.
The rumor began after an AI-generated post circulated on social media, showing Kardashian appearing to flirt with Dončić following his trade. Specifically, the post suggested she wanted to learn Slovenian, a nod to Dončić’s roots.
The Lakers star did not comment on the rumor, but Kardashian later addressed it on her sister Khloe’s podcast.
“You wanna know the craziest one that people thought was real?” Kardashian said. “There’s a basketball player that I think got traded to the Lakers, Luka. There was a fake tweet or comment on Instagram, I don’t know where it came from.”
She then described the content of the fake post, in which she supposedly said she wanted to learn Dončić’s language.
“It looks like I’m hitting on this guy, I haven’t gone to a Laker game since,” she added.
When her sister asked if that was really the reason she had not attended games, she replied, “not really because of that.”

On Dončić’s end, the AI-generated content does not appear to have bothered him. He has remained focused on playing high-level basketball and is having an outstanding individual season.
Entering Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers, Dončić is averaging a league-best 33.5 points per game. He is also filling the stat sheet, averaging 7.7 rebounds and 8.7 assists.
His play has been key in helping the Lakers maintain their position near the top of the Western Conference standings. Following a two-game winning streak, Los Angeles sits fifth at 26-16.
Additionally, the quality of his performance has endeared him to much of the fan base. He led All-Star fan voting with 3,402,967 votes and joins Stephen Curry, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, and Nikola Jokić as the Western Conference’s five All-Star starters.
Dončić experienced a personal milestone in December with the birth of his second daughter with partner Anamaria Goltes. He missed two games as a result — one against the Toronto Raptors on Dec. 4 and another against the Boston Celtics on Dec. 5.
