The Toronto Raptors will be shorthanded when they take on the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night (Jan. 14).
Find out who is on their injury report, their status, and their expected return date.
What is Jakob Poeltl, RJ Barrett, and Other Raptors Players’ Injury Status?
The Raptors are considered favorites over the Indiana Pacers heading into Wednesday’s action, given their current standings. However, the injuries that Toronto is dealing with increase the probability of an upset.
Center Jakob Poeltl and forward RJ Barrett will both be out, which already weakens the Raptors’ frontcourt. Poeltl will miss the game due to a lower back strain, while Barrett remains out due to a left ankle sprain.
Further depleting their frontcourt is the status of forward Sandro Mamukelashvili, who has been listed as questionable for Wednesday’s action due to an illness.
The frontcourt isn’t the only area that’s been decimated by injuries, as some of their guards could also miss the game. Point guard Immanuel Quickley was included on the team’s injury report, as per Raptors beat writer Josh Lewenberg.
There isn’t any confirmation yet on whether he’ll play or not, and it will likely be a game-time decision.
Immanuel Quickley is a new add to the Raptors’ injury report. He’s questionable for tonight’s game in Indy with back spasms. Mamu (illness) is also questionable. Barrett, Poeltl and Walter are out.

Joining Quickley on the list of injured backcourt players for his team are guards Ja’Kobe Walter and Garrett Temple. Similar to Quickley, Temple is dealing with back spasms and is questionable. Meanwhile, Walter will miss the game due to a hip pointer.
While the number of injuries they are dealing with is concerning, there’s also some good news. According to ESPN, all six of them are expected to return before the end of the week. Should these estimations prove accurate, the Raptors could enter the following week with a revitalized roster.
A healthier squad will be especially crucial as they have a daunting five-game Western Conference road trip ahead of them from Jan. 18 to Jan. 25. During this period, they will face the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, and Oklahoma City Thunder.
They also have one more game in between Wednesday’s game against the Pacers and the start of their road trip. That is a one-game homestand against the visiting Los Angeles Clippers on Friday, Jan. 16.
