Atlanta Hawks Trade Trae Young To Washington Wizards

During the game, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Young is being traded to the Washington Wizards.

Via Charania: “BREAKING: The Atlanta Hawks are trading four-time NBA All-Star Trae Young to the Washington Wizards for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert, sources tell ESPN.”

Many people around the NBA world reacted to the major deal:

StatMuse: “Wizards young squad: Tre — 19 years old Bub — 20 years old Alex — 20 years old Bilal — 21 years old Kyshawn — 22 years old Trae — Young”

Evan Sidery: “After trading Trae Young, the Hawks now plan to pursue Anthony Davis in a package built around expiring contracts Kristaps Porzingis and Luke Kennard. Atlanta appears to be changing their identity to a defense-first model after years building around Young’s offensive prowess.”

Greg Finberg: “The Wizards started with Bradley Beal, traded him for CP3 + six seconds + four swaps, traded CP3 for Jordan Poole + a 2030 first-round pick, dumped Poole’s salary for CJ McCollum, then traded McCollum’s expiring salary for Trae Young. I’d say that’s pretty good asset management.”

Underdog NBA: “Wizards projected starting lineup: Trae Young Tre Johnson Kyshawn George Bilal Coulibaly Alex Sarr”

joe schmidt: “Will forever appreciate what Trae Young did for this franchise End of an era.”

Young had spent all eight seasons of his pro career with the Hawks.

He is currently averaging 19.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.0 steals per contest while shooting 41.5% from the field and 30.5% from three-point range in ten games.
