Durant had come into the night with averages of 25.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 52.3% from the field and 42.3% from three-point range in 30 games.

He had spent part of three seasons playing for the Suns (before getting traded to the Rockets over the summer).

The Rockets improved to 22-11 in 33 games, which has them as the fifth seed in the Western Conference.

They are 11-2 in the 13 games they have played at home in Houston.

Following the Suns, the Rockets will play their next game on Wednesday when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers.

Durant (who was the second pick in the 2007 NBA Draft out of Texas) has also spent time with the Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder and Brooklyn Nets.

He has won two NBA Championships (and the 2014 MVP Award).

As for the Suns, they are the seventh seed in the Western Conference with a 21-15 record in 36 games.

They are 9-10 in the 19 games they have played on the road away from Phoenix.

Following the Rockets, the Suns will play their next game on Wednesday night when they visit the Memphis Grizzlies.
