NBA World Reacts To Wizards-Hawks Trade Rumor For Trae Young

On Monday, Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported that the Washington Wizards and Atlanta Hawks have had trade discussions surrounding Young.

Via Stein: “The Wizards have emerged as a legitimate potential trade destination for Atlanta’s Trae Young, @TheSteinLine has learned, in a deal construction centered around CJ McCollum’s expiring contract.”

Here’s what people were saying about the news:

Zach Lowe: “STEINYYYY! Have mentioned several times — including on today’s pod — about lack of a true PG/organizer in Washington. If a deal occurs, will be interesting to see if it signals the Wiz are doing it for Trae or for what if any draft capital comes with Trae.”

@notbpod: “Trae Young with this talented young Wizards squad plus a potential top draft pick… sign me up.”

@SleeperWizards: “Trae Young + Tre Johnson backcourt 🎯🔥”

Greg Finberg: “If the Wizards can get Trae Young for a CJ McCollum/Corey Kispert package, it makes sense. Gives the team a true PG at great value to evaluate their young core with. Also doesn’t lock them into his contract long-term, as he only has one year left. Issue: Does it hurt the tank?”

Tony Jones: “Why would the wizards trade for Trae Young? I don’t get it at all”
