Most of the New York Knicks’ roster is well aware that Josh Hart is their unsung hero who deserves a lot more respect and praise. Ever since acquiring stars such as Jalen Brunson and Hart, the Knicks have regained relevance and made respectable postseason pushes over the past few years. That progress has carried into this season, with the Knicks sitting at 20-8 and second in the East. While much of the attention goes to Brunson’s scoring, those around the team point to Hart as the engine that makes it all work.

The New York Knicks Appear Unstoppable With Josh Hart Supporting the Main Stars
During the Knicks’ recent matchup against Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers, Hart’s eye-catching stat line was noticed. He put up 10 points, six assists, and five rebounds in 34 minutes of action, a very tame stat line at the surface level.
Be that as it may, the Knicks’ fanbase knows that Hart has a balanced skill set, making him a Swiss Army Knife for the Knicks.
“He’s our Draymond Green,” one Knick staffer told SNY’s Ian Begley recently.
Those who watched Hart on the court this season will understand why he is being compared to the Golden State Warriors veteran, as he’s the heart and soul of the team without prioritizing scoring.
Hart’s numbers as a starter tell the story. He is averaging 15 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists while shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from three, and the Knicks have consistently won with him in the lineup. Much like Green during his prime Warriors years, Hart fills the box score without needing to be a primary scorer, influencing games through rebounding, playmaking, and versatile defense rather than raw point totals.
Hart’s willingness to open up or develop his playstyle has earned praise from his teammate Karl-Anthony Towns. “I think he does a great job pushing the pace, and he presents a different obstacle for the opponents to deal with. I think that he’s done a great job of utilizing his game, what he does best, and maximizing our team’s chance to win.”
Many others on the Knicks have acknowledged Hart’s impact on the team, crediting several easy buckets to the increased pace of play that Hart brings to the table.
The Knicks’ record with Hart supporting Brunson and Towns speaks for itself. They are 10-2 with all three stars on the court, a sign that this team will make noise in the playoffs. While the Knicks may have struggled to advance past the Indiana Pacers in recent postseasons, the Pacers appear to be a different team without Haliburton leading the way.
The only team in the East doing better than the Knicks in terms of record is the Detroit Pistons, a squad viewed as less experienced and accomplished. After also considering teams that are struggling to win, such as the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers, the Knicks have a very good path to the Conference and NBA Finals.
Now, what remains to be seen is if Hart will be able to deliver a title to the Knicks, cementing his position in franchise history.
