Warriors Predicted To Bring In $90,000,000 Ex-Lakers Star in Major Trade Involving Jonathan Kuminga

The Golden State Warriors could bring in a former Los Angeles Lakers star in a major trade involving star forward Jonathan Kuminga.

The Golden State Warriors are having a strange start to the 2025-2026 NBA regular season.

Despite entering the season with championship expectations, the Warriors are struggling to find a rhythm. They are the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference with a record of 13-12 entering Friday’s game against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

One of the many players on Golden State’s roster having a hard time finding a groove is forward Jonathan Kuminga, who could be traded in the coming months as a result.

Warriors Predicted To Bring In Kyle Kuzma

The Milwaukee Bucks appear headed toward a rebuild, especially if superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo officially requests a trade. Assuming Antetokounmpo is dealt, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if trades involving Myles Turner and Kyle Kuzma closely follow.

Sports Illustrated’s Joey Akeley predicts the Warriors will send Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Bucks in exchange for Kuzma and Kevin Porter Jr.

The hope for the Warriors in this trade is Kuzma can revert back to his Los Angeles Lakers/Washington Wizards self. He is greatly struggling in Milwaukee this season, averaging 12.8 points and 4.4 assists on 49.6% shooting in 24 appearances. However, he’s played much better in the past, recording nearly 19 points per game in his sophomore season with the Lakers and over 22 points per game in his best year in Washington.

Not to mention, Kuzma has two seasons remaining on his four-year, $90 million contract, so retaining him would not be an immediate concern.

Akeley also points to the addition of Porter Jr. as a huge win for the Warriors because of his ability to act as a scoring point guard in the second unit as well as his contract helping the front office save money.

For the Bucks, it’s a home-run swing on Kuminga. He is a 23-year-old NBA champion who has flashed All-Star-caliber potential in the past. Given the Bucks would only entertain this trade in the event of a rebuild, the coaching staff could give him a major opportunity to succeed.
