4-Time NBA Champion Reveals Dillon Brooks Can Be an All-Star, Under 1 Condition

A four-time NBA champion offered praise for Dillon Brooks, who has emerged as one of the Suns’ top scorers this season.

Dillon Brooks has made significant strides in becoming a standout player for the Phoenix Suns to begin the 2025-26 NBA season. Through 17 games, Brooks is averaging 22.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He is shooting 45.9% from the field, including 31% from beyond the arc, and 84.1% from the free-throw line.

His two-way production has drawn praise from Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, who noted Brooks’ potential for leaguewide recognition.

Draymond Green Weighs In on Dillon Brooks’ All-Star Prospects

Brooks is in the ninth season of his career and his first with the Suns. He had previous stints with the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets, showcasing his skill set as a 3-and-D player.

Brooks has taken the next step in his game, becoming one of the Suns’ top scorers this season. The four-time champion Green talked about the veteran wing’s growth in the league on Saturday, saying he believes Brooks should be in the running for an All-Star selection.

“Big Boogie Cousins praised Dillon Brooks and said every team should have a guy like him. Dillon Brooks is in the conversations of myself, Marcus Smart, Dennis Rodman — and my thoughts on that list are: He only has one All-Defensive Team (selection), so you’d love to see that list continue to grow. But nonetheless I do think he is your hard-playing guy. I think he is the heart of your team,” Green said during a segment of his self-titled podcast.

“I think he’s the guy who’s going to mix it up. So I’m not mad at Boogie putting Dillon Brooks in that category with what he’s continued to prove. I wasn’t sold earlier in his career — I’ll be honest — but you continue to work, and I’ll always be honest and keep it real. If he continues to play the way he’s playing, I think he’ll be a little more than All-Defense; I think he has a legit opportunity to be an All-Star if he keeps this up.”

The Suns have benefited from Brooks’ increased involvement in the offense. They now hope he can maintain that as they currently sit in the playoff picture to start the campaign.

Phoenix has a 13-10 record on the season, holding the seventh spot in the Western Conference standings. They are two games above the Golden State Warriors and three games above the Memphis Grizzlies while trailing the Minnesota Timberwolves by 1.5 games and the San Antonio Spurs by 2.5 games.

The Suns will resume preparations for their next matchup, which will be on the road. They face the Timberwolves on Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. ET. After that, they take part in the quarterfinals of the NBA Cup, facing the Oklahoma City Thunder on Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
