Al Horford has been going through the motions of the 2025-26 NBA season as he is on the sidelines for the Golden State Warriors.
With the skill set the veteran big man possesses, the team has missed his presence on the court as they hope for a quick return from his injury. Here is how things look for Horford with the injury he’s dealing with.

Al Horford’s Injury Status With the Warriors
Horford is going through the 19th year of his career, his first with the Warriors. Nearing the end of his All-Star career, he looks to conclude with one last championship after winning his first title with the Boston Celtics in 2024.
However, he’s seen himself on the sidelines quite often with the Warriors. Given his current age of 39, they have kept him out of back-to-back games to maintain his freshness for upcoming matches.
The injury he sustained will keep him sidelined for the short term. He is dealing with sciatica, a nerve injury that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is also going through. It will keep Horford out of the Warriors’ upcoming matchup, limiting their depth in the frontcourt.
Horford has been present for over half the Warriors’ games to begin the campaign. Appearing in 13 games, he is averaging 5.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and two assists per game. He is shooting 32.1% from the field, including 29.8% from beyond the arc, and 100% from the free-throw line.
What Lies Ahead for Warriors Amid Horford’s Injury?
The Warriors will hope that Horford can recover from his injury, which showed that even James missed significant time to start the season. They need his services in the frontcourt, where he provides playmaking and defensive skillsets on the court. Having him back would bode well while Golden State also deals with other ailments on the roster.
In the meantime, they must address their struggles on both sides of the ball when everyone returns to the court. Golden State has an 11-12 record on the season, holding the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings. They are one game ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies and two games ahead of the Portland Trail Blazers, while trailing the Phoenix Suns by two games and the Minnesota Timberwolves by 3.5 games.
The Warriors will continue preparation for their upcoming matchup, which will be on the road. They face the Cleveland Cavaliers on December 6 at 7:30 p.m. ET. After that, they go on the road to face the Chicago Bulls on December 7 at 7 p.m. ET.
