Giannis Antetokounmpo’s tenure with the Milwaukee Bucks could soon be coming to an end. NBA insider Shams Charania recently reported that Antetokounmpo and his representatives met with the team to discuss his future.
It will take a massive package to snag the star from the Bucks, but there a few teams who would seemingly have the resources to do so. NBA legend Carmelo Anthony recently named one team that could really shake the league up by adding Antetokounmpo.

Carmelo Anthony Suggests Oklahoma City Trade for Antetokounmpo
Antetokounmpo is clearly one of the very best players in the league, and his trade could shake the power balance of the NBA.
On a recent episode of ‘7PM in Brooklyn‘, Anthony suggested the Oklahoma City Thunder should explore an Antetokounmpo trade. The Thunder are already the best team in the league, sitting at 21-1, and won a ring last season.
Still, the Thunder have plenty of assets and are one of the teams that could theoretically afford Antetokounmpo.
“I mean, if you really want to f*** the game up,” said Anthony. “Aye, Sam Presti, if I’m in position to trade for Giannis…”

The Thunder have multiple first-round selections in every draft until 2031. The Thunder own the Los Angeles Clippers’ first-rounder in 2026, and that could end up being a top-three pick.
Additionally, the Thunder have plenty of young talent, such as Nikola Jokić, Thomas Sorber, Ajay Mitchell, and more, who could interest the Bucks in a return.
Thanks to the young talent and draft capital, the Thunder could potentially even get Antetokounmpo without giving up Jalen Williams or Chet Holmgren. However, the Thunder are already the best team in the league, so they may be hesitant to break up their elite roster and sacrifice depth.
Anthony also mentioned the New York Knicks as a landing spot for the Greek Freak.
It’s long been rumored that the Knicks are Antetokounmpo’s preferred landing spot, and Anthony would love to see the star go to his former team.
“I would love to see Giannis in New York if there’s an opportunity,” Anthony explained.
Antetokounmpo Trade Would Shake the NBA
Considering Antetokounmpo is clearly unhappy in Milwaukee, it should only be a matter of time before the star is traded.
Last February, the Mavericks shocked the world by sending Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. This means we could see two generational players get traded within one calendar year.
Aside from the Knicks and Thunder, teams like the Atlanta Hawks, San Antonio Spurs, and Miami Heat could also be teams to watch in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes.
The Greek Freak has been playing at his typical elite level in the 2025-26 season, averaging 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. Antetokounmpo is also shooting a career-best .435 from deep so far this season.
